APPROVAL OF THE 2015-2016 SALARY SETTLEMENT FOR THOSE NOT COVERED BY EITHER IN INSTRUCTIONAL OR CLASSIFIED BARGAINING AGREEMENTS
Description
On Friday, February 26, 2016, the bargaining teams for the School Board of Sarasota County and the Sarasota Classified Teacher's Association reached tentative agreement on the collective bargaining agreements for both the Instructional and Classified Bargaining units. The tentative agreements generally include a 2.5% salary increase. Historically appointed staff not covered by one of these two bargaining agreements receive the same salary increases or payments that the bargaining unit membership receives. For this year that increase will show up in different forms. Classified staff paid on the confidential salary schedule will be awarded up to three steps, or a combination of steps(s) and a one-time payment, like their peers in the Bargaining Unit. Those paid on one of the Administrative salary schedules, the Administrative Assistant salary schedule, and the Superintendent of Schools will receive a 2.5% across the board increase. Principals and assistant principals will be moved to the new, attached, salary schedule after the 2.5% increase has been applied to their current salary. Staff is also recommending minor adjustments to the Temporary/Substitute and Vocational, Adult and Community Education salary schedules.
Recommendation
That the Board approve the salary schedules for those employees not covered by either the Instructional or Classified Bargaining Agreements as presented.
